Inspiration from God

There was a time in my life when I was visited by an angel. Not your typical angel by any means, but heavenly was the experience.

One of the gifts this angel brought me was a book. Three books, actually. They were about a man who one day wrote an angry letter to God, and to his surprise, God answered him. This letter turned into a long dialog between the man and God and eventually became the trilogy, Conversations with God by Neale Donald Walsch.

You don't need to believe in God in order to read these books. Even if Walsch made the entire "conversation" up in his head, it doesn't matter. The words convey meanings of such beauty, such simplicity, that to me they speak nothing if not Truth.

Below is an excerpt from Book One. If you feel moved by these words, I would urge you to find yourself a copy and get reading. They will most likely change your life [they surely changed mine...] Enjoy.

"...All human actions are motivated at their deepest level by one of two emotions - fear or love. In truth there are only two emotions - only two words in the language of the soul. They are the opposite ends of the great polarity which I created when I produced the universe, and your world, as you know it today.

...Every human thought, and every human action, is based in either love or fear. There is no other human motivation, and all other ideas are but derivatives of these two. They are simply different versions - different twists on the same theme.

Think on this deeply and you will see that it is true. This is what I have called the Sponsoring Thought. It is either a thought of love or fear. This is the thought behind the thought behind the thought. It is the first thought. It is prime force. It is the raw energy that drives the engine of human experience.

...every single free choice you ever undertake arises out of the only two possible thoughts there are: a thought of love or a thought of fear.

Fear is the energy which contracts, closes down, draws in, runs, hides, hoards, harms.

Love is the energy which expands, opens up, sends out, stays, reveals, shares, heals.

Fear wraps our bodies in clothing, love allows us to stand naked. Fear clings to and clutches all that we have, love gives all that we have away. Fear holds close, love holds dear. Fear grasps, love lets go. Fear rankles, love soothes. Fear attacks, love amends.

Every human thought, word or deed is based in one emotion or the other. You have no choice about this, because there is nothing else from which to choose. But you have free choice about which of these to select.

...You have been taught to live in fear. You have been told about the survival of the fittest and the victory of the strongest and the success of the cleverest. Precious little is said about the glory of the most loving. And so you strive to be the fittest, the strongest, the cleverest - in one way or another - and if you see yourself as something less than this in any situation, you fear loss, for you have been told that to be less is to lose.

And so of course you choose the action fear sponsors, for that is what you have been taught. Yet I teach you this: when you choose the action love sponsors, then will you do more than survive, then will you do more than win, then will you do more than succeed. Then will you experience the full glory of Who You Really Are, and who you can be.

...There is only one purpose for all of life, and that is for you and all that lives to experience fullest glory.

Everything you say, think, or do is attendant to that function. There is nothing else for your soul to do, and nothing else your soul wants to do.

The wonder of this purpose is that it is never-ending. An ending is a limitation, and God's purpose is without such a boundary. Should there come a moment in which you experience yourself in your fullest glory, you will in that instant imagine an ever greater glory to fulfill. The more you are, the more you can become, and the more you can become, the more you can yet be.

The deepest secret is that life is not a process of discovery, but a process of creation.

You are not discovering yourself, but creating yourself anew. Seek, therefore, not to find out Who You Are, seek to determine Who You Want To Be."

Whether you recognize it or not, we are in a time of shifting consciousness on this planet. It is time to rise up; it is time to release the hold fear has on our hearts and to let our light shine through. Who Are You? Who do You Want To Be? It can take a lot of work and courage to choose living your life out of love. But I can guarantee that nothing but good will come of it.

The beauty of our human experience is that we can choose to create a life of love Right Now. The time is here; we are all ready. Let the light shine through.

The Female Orgasm

May is such a sexy month.

A month of opening, of flowering, of attracting.

In our backyard, we have two massive and ancient apple trees. Right now they are a mass of delicate pink flowers, and if you stand near them, you become aware of an underlying humming. Looking up, you see hundreds of bees in a love-drunk dance, dizzy with the sweetness of apple blossom. Tree sex? Bee sex? I'm not sure. But I do know that the blooming flowers and the shining sun and the May Day celebrations can make me feel sexy indeed.

A little while ago, I came across this video on youtube. I have been wanting to share it with you, waiting for the right moment. The bees and the trees and the flowers outside tell me the moment is right.

In the video, Nicole Daedone, a researcher and lecturer who has dedicated her life's work to the practice of orgasm, talks about the importance of female orgasm. She sees many women in our culture who have deep, unsatisfied hungers, and she believes that orgasm is the answer.

I am all for having orgasms.

As I listened to Nicole talk about finding connection through orgasm, I realized she was talking about connecting to something greater than just our sexuality: she is talking about connecting to our feminine spirit. Women are hungry because we are disconnected from the essence of who we are. We are disconnected from our womanly bodies, and when we are disconnected from our bodies, we can't be connected to our feminine spirits. Attaining that connection, through orgasm or otherwise, will feed our deepest hungers.

I hope you can take the time to watch the video. In my May Day post I talked about reclaiming the sacredness of sexuality, so this post can be the next installment in that series. Let's reclaim the sacredness of our bodies, let's reclaim the beauty of sex, and let us find pleasure deep within ourselves.

A Vision for my Sisters

Today I share a poem from a book called Womb Wisdom by Padma and Anaiya Aon Prakasha. The book is about connecting with your feminine energy and creative potential, about opening and releasing and becoming aware of intuition. [If you are interested in connecting with the wisdom of your womb, I would first recommend you read Wild Feminine by Tami Lynn Kent, but I have found inspiration in this book as well.]

Imagine a Woman

Imagine a woman who believes it is right and good that she is a woman
A woman who honors her experience and tells her stories
Who refuses to carry the sins of others within her body and life

Imagine a woman who believes she is good
A woman who trust and respects herself
Who listens to her needs and desires and meets them with tenderness and grace

Imagine a woman who has acknowledged the past's influence in the present
A woman who has walked through her past
Who has healed the present

Imagine a woman who authors her own life
A woman who exerts, initiates, and moves on her own behalf
Who refuses to surrender except to her truest self and wisest voice

Imagine a woman who imagines the divine in her image and likeness

Imagine a woman in love with her own body
A woman who believes her body is enough, just as it is
Who celebrates her body as an exquisite resource

Imagine a woman who honors the face of the goddess
A woman who celebrates the accumulation of her years and her wisdom
Who refuses to use precious energy disguising the changes in her body and life

Imagine a woman who values the women in her life
A woman who sits with others
Who is reminded of the truth about herself whenever she forgets

Now imagine yourself as this woman...

Sisters, we are this woman. Much love and many blessings.

Gratitude

The other day, I was reading my favorite blog, and she directed me to this beautiful and inspirational video (if you have ten minutes to spare, I highly recommend you take a look). In the days since, feeling gratitude has been very much in my awareness. It can be easy to get caught up in the mix of our lives. Even though we have many things we're grateful for, and we may speak our gratitude or think our gratitude, it's not often that we slow down to really feel our gratitude.

I like to feel my gratitude with the root of my feminine spirit. I focus on my womb area, holding the object of my gratitude there, and I let a warm light fill me up (you don't have to have a womb to do this practice, by the way. The womb space is also the place of the root chakra). It is a wonderfully grounding experience, and it helps keep the messier and more difficult parts of life in perspective. It helps me live happier, more relaxed, and truly connected to Spirit.

What I am grateful for right now:

  • leaping ballerinas
  • Anthony out in the rain, working on our greenhouse
  • sun-kissed curls on a rainy day
  • almond butter (we were out for so long!) on spelt toast with honey and butter -my favorite decadent snack
  • a vacumed floor, folded laundry and washed dishes
  • I am so grateful that my children are growing up where I grew up. I am so grateful that my parents are a daily part of our lives.
  • the honor of opening up my home yesterday for an amazing circle of women. We came together to celebrate and bless our friend who will soon be welcoming her second baby. I myself felt so blessed to be among such a strong circle of women, to be in this place with a community of sisters surrounding me. [I am also so grateful for my wider community of sisters, who live farther away but whose love and support nourishes me daily.]
